Rubie Tosses No-No in Opener (07/18/08)

Right hander Josh Rubideaux was up in the rotation this afternoon as Lux opened the Tacoma CC tournament with a Redmond Oregon team who had already won their opener. But, there was no win in store for Redmond in this one as Rubideaux dominated throwing a No hitter in the 5 inning Lux 15-0 triumph.  Rubideaux struck out 5 and walked four on the day. The web gem of the game was turned in by SS Craig Jacobson on hard one hopper he gloved in traffic and from a knee started a classic 6-4-3 double play to end Redmond's only threat in the 4th.  Offensively for Lux every starter had a base hit on the day including Craig Jacobson ( 2-3 with 4 RBI)  and Roger O'Neill  (2-3) who scored in the 4th on deep double by 3rd baseman Erick Raynes,  Joey Semler has been getting hot with 2 more singles today resulting in 3 RBI. Lux scored 3 runs in the 4th on 4 base hits - the big blow an RBI double to deep left center by Pat Barlow.  A Conor Kelley single pushed across the final Lux run.  That would prove to be enough offense for Lux as Roger O'Neill relieved Reppert allowing 1 run in two frames. Jeff Postetter closed the game and threw a dominating 9-pitch 7th for the Save.  The win is Lux 18th out of the last 20 games.

Spark Lit Late in Lux Comeback Victory (6/24/08

Lux looked like a team who played 8 tough games in 7 days early against the Riverdawgs of Skagit Valley.  Dominated at the plate and sluggish in the field, Lux struggled to stay in the game despite the solid effort of starting pitcher Roger O'Neill.  The Riverdawgs got a couple timely hits to score 3 times in the 3rd and two more in the 4th on a misplayed ball in the outfield. Lux scored their first run in the bottom half of the inning when Alex Stanford doubled and came home on a Ryan Neumann ground ball, The Dawgs scored two more in the 5th on a home run and led 7-1 but the spark had been lit as a Dawgs base runner made an aggressive slide on a possible DP and cleated 2nd baseman Tim Wilson above the knee. The spark led to fire and Lux scored in each of the next 3 innings. In the 5th Danny Kelley singled to knock in Anthony Vitulli who had doubled.  In the 6th Lux took advantage of a single by Stanford, a couple walks and an RBI by Conor Kelley who wore one with the bases corked. Lux responded with a run in the bottom of the inning when Conor Kelley singled and Craig Jacobson advance across the plate on a passed ball. Some very frustrating calls and mishandled balls in the field accounted for 2 more Bank runs. Lux was unable to overcome the deficit and fell 5-2.

Morrow Dominant in Game 5 - Lux Wins Their Bracket

Needing the victory to stay pace with bracket leaders, Lux Homes turned to the guy who has been vying for the role of Ace - AJ Morrow.  Outstanding in his 3 previous outings that were all Lux victories, Morrow turned his sights onto a very solid Twin Falls Idaho team.  AJ was nothing short of awesome today allowing but 1 hit and just two opposing base runners to reach 2nd the entire game.  Solid defense behind him was a great asset as well including the performance by Lux SS Alex Stanford who had 7 assists and 2 put outs on the day - two of which were 'web gems'. All the offense he would need was provided on the first two swings of the game when Kris Otterholt tripled to right followed by Adam McNaghten's lined single to right center giving Lux the early 1-0 lead.  The score stayed this way until the 6th when Tim Wilson walked, stole 2nd and then scored on Alex Stanford's triple over the center fielders head. Poised with a 2 run lead, Morrow made short work of the Cowboys in the 7th working a fly ball out to left that was tracked down by Jeff Postetter, and two ground balls to Stanford at shortstop who who played pick and catch with Pat Barlow at 1st and give Lux the Bracket championship.

12 Hit Barrage Gives Lux Win Over Shockers in Game 4 (6/20/08)

However, with all this scoring Lux could not shed the Shockers. A couple hits and some wildness from the bump in combination with a questionable call gave the Shockers an 8-7 lead in to the 5th. The Green & Gold came in off the field with fire and proceeded as follows: a McNaghten Walk, back to back singles by Tim Wilson and Alex Stanford and a double by big Patrick Barlow. After a walk to Roger O'Neill and a Sac Fly by Kelley, Raynes singled to right and Nuemann delivered his 3rd hit on the day. Results: 5 Lux runs. The Shockers plated two in the bottom half of the inning and the game ended with a 12-10 victory for Lux Homes moving them to 3-1 in pool play  ,           Raynes leads big attack with 3 hits

O'Neill Comes Up Huge - Lux Beats Bozeman in Tense Contest (06/20/08)

Lux junior Roger O'Neill got the nod this morning and gave his best pitching performance of the year thus far in a critical game for LB. Supported by solid defense behind him, O Neill  spread 4 hits over 7 complete innings to best a very good Bozeman Bucks team in Game 3.   Bozeman scored in the 1st and held the 1-0 lead until the 5th when Danny Kelley singled and was advanced by an AJ Morrow sacrifice bunt. Anthony Vitulli then 'came up clutch' with a stinging 2 out single  to center to score Kelley and tie the game. Bozeman responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the 5th to go back on top by 1. In the Lux Homes 6th Adam McNaghten led off with a double to right followed by a single by Tim Wilson. Alex Stanford scored McNaghten with a screamer to 2nd that was fielded by the 2nd baseman but not cleanly enough to stop the run. Wilson advanced to 3rd on the ground ball and then scored when Patrick Barlow pounded a fly ball to center and Lux led for the 1st time in the game 3-2.  O'Neill worked 3 soft fly ball outs in the 6th and entered the bottom of the 7th with only the 1 run lead.  Bozeman would not go quietly and led the inning off with a deep drive to the wall that resulted in their lead off guy standing on 3rd with nobody out.  However, O'Neill rose to the challenge striking out the designated hitter and inducing pop outs to Wilson and Barlow to secure the big 3-2 victory for Lux.

Pullman Falls Victim in Game 2 (6/19/08)

Lux Homes played the home town favorite Pullman Patriots in the back half of their opening day doubleheader at WSU.  Lux came out smoking after the earlier loss and exploded for 3 runs in the 1st on a combination of walks to Pat Barlow & Tim Wilson and base hits by Alex Stanford, Danny Kelley and Adam McNaghten.  Lux scored 3 more in the 2nd when Wilson drew another walk, and singles by McNaghten & Stanford were followed by 3 walks.  Lux got on the board again in the 4th when Joey Semler scored on Roger O'Neill's single to center.

Lux enjoyed a comfortable lead but, with tournament tie breaks a factor now with 1 loss, they needed to keep opponents off the board and runs against to a minimum.  A combination of pitchers were called to the hill to do just that led by Jeff Postetter who tossed 3 scoreless frames followed by two shut out innings from Jack GrantErick Raynes then delivered the final blow with a 2 run home run in the top of the 6th to give Lux the necessary margin for the mercy rule and Conor Kelley closed the game in the bottom of the 6th preserving the 9-1 Lux victory.

Kris Otterholt knocked in Ryan Neumann (2 for 4 ) and Craig Jacobson (2 for 3) in the 4th with a double to right and scored on a McNaghten single.  Stanford completed the scoring knocking in Jacobson & Otterholt in the 6th

Columbia River Throws Wrench into the Plan (5/25/08)

A win put Lux into the championship round but Columbia River had other ideas dumping LB 8-4 in a disappointing loss. Unable to pitch ahead in the count and Lux' inability to capitalize with runners in scoring position proved fatal. Erick Raynes had two hits on the day as did Tim Wilson. Adam McNaghten homered for Lux.

Grant's Giant Effort Lost in 9th (5/24/08)

Jack Grant pitched arguably the best game of his life against the Titans this afternoon.  Grant squared off with an outstanding Titan pitcher and the duel was on.  Grant was masterful dominating Titan hitters threw 7 innings. However, the Titans ace was answering in much the same manner and the score was knotted at 1-1 through 7 complete innings. With a pitchers duel in full bloom and the score deadlocked, Grant took the mound again in the 8th and proceeded to strike out the side.  An outstanding effort by Grant on the day who, due to  pitch count, was relieved in the 9th. However, we could not hold for him and the Titans scored once to win the contest 2-1. The Lux defense was solid today with the web gems being delivered by 3rd baseman Danny Kelley and centerfielder Adam McNaghten with an outstanding over the head  diving snag in the 5th - ala  Jim Edmonds - to end the inning.

Postetter Fires Gem vs Wave  (05/23/08)

Inglemoor star Jeff Postetter got the nod against a tough Wave club in Game 2 and dealt nothing but aces. The tall right hander threw a complete game allowing just 4 hits and 1 run striking out 6 to earn the win.  Postetter faced two late inning threats but struck out the 3rd out in both the 6th & 7th innings to preserve the big 'W". Alex Stanford provided the offense with a 2 run dinger in the 3rd proving to be the game winner.

Lux Opens With Victory  (5/23.08)

Jeff Donovan made his debut kicking off the 2008 campaign for Lux Homes against Columbia River in the Nike Classic in Ephrata, Wa.  Dono took little time to find the groove throwing a 5 inning Complete Game in the 10-2 LB win. Tim Wilson, Adam McNaghten & Joey Semler had a pair of base hits each for boys in green.
